Dear GMB Member,

As you are aware and thanks to great work by GMB’s Paul Arkison, GMB Scotland Trade Union were able to secure a recognition agreement with Mitie in all three Ayrshire Councils.

The agreement gives GMB sole bargaining rights for the employees on all matters relating to pay, hours, holidays and any other collective matters.

Following an extensive survey of our members over the last month the main issue is clear and positive, our members want to be paid the Scottish Living wage.

I have consequently written to Mr Steven Almond, Accounts Director at Mitie PFI Ltd, outlining our pay claim for this year as follows;

·         All employees to be paid The Scottish Living Wage as their basic rate of pay.

As part of the recognition agreement we also have the facility to have 1 GMB shop steward in each of the respective councils, at present we have a steward in place in both East and North Ayrshire, to any member based in South Ayrshire Council and wishes to become a GMB shop steward if they could contact the Ayrshire Office on 01563 574455.

The campaign for an anti poverty pay increase has started and the message to Mitie is crystal clear;
Be a Mighty employer not a Scrooge employer  – Pay your employees in all Ayrshire Council Schools contracts The Scottish Living Wage as their basic rate of pay.

GMB are the only trade union with this agreement with Mitie and only GMB can negotiate with Mitie on your pay, terms and conditions.
